A Whopper can’t buy you love. But love can buy you a Whopper.

Burger King - A Whopper can’t buy you love. But love can buy you a Whopper.

Imagine: it’s Valentine’s Day. You rush into your burger restaurant to grab the burger you love so much. So powerful is your love, that it actually pays for your Whopper. At one of the busiest Burger King restaurants in Germany, we set up a specially prepared self-order terminal. It looked much like the regular terminals with a giant touch screen and a small receipt printer. However, we added a small detail: heart rate sensors were ready to measure the customer’s heartbeat once they saw the delicious burger on the screen. The higher the heartbeat rose on seeing the Whopper, the lower the price you had to pay.

Fancy on the outside. Techy on the inside.

The self order terminal with the heartbeat measurement was 100 % custom built for the special promotion.

We wanted to be fast and flexible during the event and the shooting of social media video footage. Thus, we went great lengths to develop and build a flexible device stack for the machine. The architecture allowed us to run the terminal autonomously as well as triggering funny reactions from a wirelessly connected smartphone.
